Running your own business is hard - especially during the uncertainty of a pandemic!

Managing a creative business requires more work than most people think.

Building a successful business is a lot like having a toddler - it needs constant attention, it deprives you of sleep, and sometimes it needs a time out (aka time to reflect on how to improve).

Spending the time to evaluate your business is always valuable, but finding that time can be a challenge. With the pandemic still slowing life down, now is the perfect time for reflection.

Investing time now can make your business more efficient, more productive, and ultimately, more profitable when life opens up again.

What will this look like?

It all depends on what you need.

Together we’ll tackle areas of your business that are frustrating you or are just ready to be improved. Procedures and systems will be created based on your needs, how you think, and how you work. It’s your business; it should function for you in all the best ways.

Here’s how I can help -

  • Organization

How your work space and supplies are organized impacts your efficiency and productivity. Let’s examine storage and organization for materials, show supplies, finished products, forms, and files. We can also focus on the way your show booth is set up and organized to create a better flow for customers.

  • Procedures and Systems

How you do single tasks and how tasks are done over time creates procedures and systems. By analyzing, revising, and maybe creating new procedures and systems, I can help you maximize your time and energy. I look at how you order supplies, apply to shows, fulfill & ship orders, and make products.

  • Consistency

Consistency is key when it comes to creating an impactful and memorable business. I’ll dig into your branding by looking at your messaging, social media, packaging, types of products, and booth set-up.

The result?
The business grows, and you feel more on top of things!

I’m not like other business coaches. I’m not here to talk about marketing, sales funnels, or SEO. I want to help your business function better and to help you feel better.

I’ll examine how you work, focus on your goals, and take advantage of opportune areas for growth. I’ll break down tasks to create procedures and systems so the business runs more smoothly and efficiently, giving you more time to focus on what matters most to you.

No matter if you’re just starting out on this journey or if you’re a weary traveler, there are opportunities for your business to improve, grow, and become more successful.

Curious?

Let’s have a conversation!

How do I know I can help you?

I’ve been selling my own handmade goods at craft shows for eleven years, and in that time my business has changed significantly. I started out selling handmade cards and other paper goods. As the handmade market changed, trends came and went, and my interests evolved, I had to - and wanted to - change. Now the focus of my business is home decor made from upcycled and vintage materials.

In addition to running Neighborhood Blonde, I’m a 7th grade history teacher of 20 years. Through this profession, I’ve gained tremendous experience developing processes so that my students can successfully navigate educational activities as well as creating procedures for a comfortable, organized, and highly functional classroom. In other words, I know how to get a group of 13 year-olds from point A to B!

Now, I’m taking all of my expertise and offering it to you! Through being part of a creative community for the past decade, I’ve met some amazing people. And I’ve found that I really love being able to help newcomers. Starting a new venture can be daunting, so having someone to offer advice and solutions is a huge advantage! If you’re no longer a novice, taking time to evaluate your business can provide a much needed refresh and productive boost!

When I first met Shelly, I was a wreck! I HAD no idea what I was doing or what to expect from my first craft show.

The first thing she did was calm me down and reassure me that everything would be ok. Then we got to the business of all that actually needed to be done for success. She asked me questions to help me clarify how I wanted my booth to “feel” and if that matches the “feel” of my product. She guided me in using social media to advertise, how to display my items for maximum sales, and what I’d actually need the day of the show. Her help didn’t stop after our meeting, she made herself available to me as I experienced the excitement and fears as I prepared for the show. Her warmth and sincerity was a comfort to me.
